Régis Bossu

Already as a teenager, Régis Bossu started to take pictures with the camera of his father, who died at an early age. His photographs stood out from others and inspired the viewer. His instinct and his sensitivity to pictorial compositions are essential characteristics that are reflected in his work.

Beginning as a screen-printing apprentice at the United States Armed Forces Recreation Center in his hometown of Verdun, he also moved to the darkroom as part of his transfer to Germany. Animated by colleagues, he focused more and more on photography and soon became a photojournalist for Stars and Stripes. It was not until the mid-1970s when he worked as a freelance photographer and became a member of the Sygma Photo Agency. From then Bossu's photos regularly appeared in magazines and newspapers, including: Time, Newsweek, Stern, Der Spiegel and Paris Match.

Political shots, such as his perhaps most famous picture "The Kiss", went around the world. But also contemporary historical recordings or an everyday street scene, always narrated with a humorous imagery, fill his work.
