No make-up, no poses, hardly any post-processing - that's exactly how the models Magali, Lisa and Felix are photographed. With the project "Pure", Hamburg-based photographer Manuel Pandalis is pursuing a true photography that does not treat the person as a projection surface, but always as an individual, showing the unique person behind the model who is nowadays increasingly treated as an interchangeable product. "Beauty opens up to me only through access to the person," explains the photographer. "Especially the rough edges, the supposed little quirks and inadequacies that make up the individual, the beauty behind this surface, I find relevant and only interesting."

Pandalis began in 1993 as an assistant to interior and industrial design photographers, until two years later he took a different path to gaining experience in the music and fashion scene. Since 2004 he works as a freelance photographer with a focus on portrait and fashion photography. He receives orders from various magazines, including Elle, Men's Health, Bunte, Cosmopolitan and Brigitte. His clients include a number of designers and companies such as H.I.S Jeans, Balisto, Villeroy & Boch, Schwarzkopf, Garnier and Leonardo.
