Luis Castañeda

*July 29, 1943, Havanna, Cuba

The native Cuban Luis Castañeda began to photograph in the 60s. His great love is the theater and the ballet, where he worked from 1964 to 1970 for the "Ballet Nacional de Cuba". He also supplies the Portuguese magazine "O Ballet" and is a reporter for local newspapers and magazines.

Luis Castañeda wants to leave Cuba in the early 1970s, but fails and is imprisoned as a political prisoner. After his release in 1976, he worked for a while for the theater in Havana.

In 1979 he finally leaves Cuba and moves to Spain. Since 1986, Luis Castañeda lives in Miami. He became internationally known for his landscapes and travel stories in color. As a member of "The Image Bank", he travels around the world and compiles around ten thousand shots every year.
