Walter Vogel: 7 Decades Photography

September 23, 2022 - November 19, 2022

Walter Vogel has been drawing photographs with his camera, preferably his Leica, for 70 years. It's not just the camera technique that he masters down to the smallest detail, but it's the feeling for the composition, the light, the mood, the shadow and his subject that he adds to create a harmonious whole.
For him, photography is a craft that creates a connection between the mechanics of the camera and the image as the result. Walter Vogel has mastered the making of pictures, as well as the creation of sensational prints in hours of work in his darkroom.

On the occasion of his 90th birthday, the Leica Gallery in Frankfurt is showing a previously unseen selection of photographs that testify to his life's work.
The human being in his living space is always in focus. These include bizarre scenes from everyday life, creative comparisons and excerpts from his artistic work. However, he does not deny that his time in Frankfurt, with the many travesty and show photographs, was one of the most intense phases of life and photography.
