Photographs from the Leica Gallery Collection 2015 - Various Artists - Summer Royal

July 4, 2015 - September 12, 2015

The Leica Gallery Frankfurt starts in a royal summer. The exhibition presents photographs by Edward Quinn (1920-1997), who painted numerous celebrities in the 1950s on his expeditions on the French Riviera. No one has kept the changes of this region, their social and cultural life in such a direct, yet also discreet, manner. Surrounded by stars and celebrities who were mostly at the beginning of their careers, Quinn documented moments of charm on the Côte d'Azur.

A further facet from the life of the stars show the recordings of the Beatles by Jim Marshall (1936-2010). He is considered one of the most famous photographers of the Rock'n'Roll era and had all the important musicians of this time in front of the camera. Around 1966 he accompanied the Beatles on their journeys and was in the middle of their concerts. Through this proximity, he creates unique and authentic recordings, which have a very natural character and express every single personality of the band members.

In addition to the photographs of Edward Quinn and Jim Marshall, the exhibition features the impressive works of Marc Lagrange's "Diamonds and Pearls" and the portraits from the series "Pure" by Manuel Pandalis.
