Manuel Pandalis - Pure

February 24, 2011 - April 2, 2011

Manuel Pandalis began his career as an assistant to various photographers until he established himself as an independent photographer on the market.

With his series PURE he was exhibited in 2010 at the Photokina. The photographs, all taken with the Leica S2, show portraits of various young men and women. In the fashion industry, the focus is less on the faces and expression of the model's personality, but rather on the product fashion.

As a result, the pictures are often sober and sterile. The model is an object during the shoot that avoids depicting one's personality and emotion. Contrary to the general tendency of the model to act as an interchangeable product, Pandalis puts the character of the model, the personality of the sitter in the foreground and shows directly and unvarnished unique individuals. Corners and edges of the subjects were deliberately not retouched.

The viewer is invited not only because of the frontal glances, but also through the detailed presentation and quality, to look at the photographs longer and more precisely. Pure naturalness!
