Craig Semetko - India Unposed & Torsten Andreas Hoffmann - India on the move

July 18, 2014 - August 30, 2014

An extraordinary exhibition with "Craig Semetko - INDIA UNPOSED" and "Torsten Andreas Hoffmann - India on the move".

Hardly any other great culture is as multifaceted and unusual as India. Both photographers visualize everyday, yet unique impressions in their pictures from different perspectives.

Craig Semetko "INDIA UNPOSED"

Craig Semetko traveled to India in autumn 2013 as one of 10 worldwide selected photographers for the Leica Camera exhibition project "10x10" in order to document the local life stylistically based on his photographic "father" Elliott Erwitt. In a mostly humorous manner, Semetko's scenes depict an everyday India that, apart from the hustle and bustle of the city, reveals a calm and relaxed togetherness. By reducing to black and white nuances, the attention is drawn to the essentials, namely to the subject. Semetko manages to immerse the viewer in an India, which stimulates the smile, but also calls for critical perception.

Torsten Andreas Hoffmann "India on the move"

Torsten Andreas Hoffmann captured the diversity of India with his camera in an unvarnished way. The flood of people that floods Indian cityscapes, in Mumbai, Delhi or Varanasi, he has dipped into motion blur with long exposures and comes on this way to expressive photographs. Unusual architectural settings are combined with watercolor-like colorful floods, creating an intense impression of the movement that breathes an artistic style into this bustling country.
