"Often you look at photos and ask yourself "How did he do it?" There is a lot of effort behind some pictures, others are more casual and result from a good dose of luck. I made a lot of mistakes on my photographic path. I have to smile at some of them today, I would like to undo some of them, but the same applies in photography: you learn from mistakes. This book consists of two parts. First I tell about my basic philosophy, my approach to photographing people. The second part is a collection of my personal favorite pictures. For each picture, I write how it was created, what the shooting parameters were, what light was used and, above all, the story behind. Some pictures have a longer story, others none. It's not just about light and image design, but also about creativity and dealing with people in front of the camera. I want to give the book a personal view of things. It should not be a guide, but a food for thought, an encouragement." - Patrick Ludolph
