Product information "William Claxton "Jazzlife Art Edition""

This edition is limited to 1000 numbered and signed exemplars.

This edition is a collection of the impressions which William Claxton (photographer) and Joachim Berendt (musicologist) made on their tour through the US in 1960 on the trail of Jazz.

The outcome is a mixture of famous musicians and unknown streetmusicians.

The first book Jazz published by them became an important piece in the collection of every Jazz- and photography fan. As a reaction to the positive resonance TASCHEN started to review, reorder and brought out a new book with new and unseen pictures of their trip.

This new book is the current edition of Jazzlife; a foreword from Claxton who tells about his and Berendt’s adventure and about his affection to jazz.

Due to modern digital techniques Berendt’s original shots and edited records are aviable also on a attached CD .

This book is perfect for those who would love to travel back in time to see the Jazz in its truest form trough Claxton and Berendt’s eyes.
See impressive pictures of Jazz-icons like Charlie Parker, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Muddy Waters, Gabor Szabo, Dave Brubeck, Stan Getz, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, Charlie Mingus, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane and more.
