According to the legend, in 1947 the founders of the agency Magnum Photos gathered at a lunch at the MoMA in New York for a magnum bottle of champagne and decided to create a previously unidentified photographers' cooperative.
Therefore the year 2017 is marked by Magnum Photos. On the occasion of the 70th anniversary year, the Leica Gallery Frankfurt presents photographs by Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Elliott Erwitt, Eve Arnold, Inge Morath, René Burri, Thomas Hoepker and Werner Bischof. Through their photographic passion, empathy for fellow human beings, they wrote history and now belong to the great masters of photography.
In addition to these magnum photographers, other icons built the focus of the group exhibition, which presents impressive moments of storytelling and documentary photography.
